Two More To go, This Is The First.

So only two more verses to go until the first online villanelle is complete. The difficulty comes from the very nature of the forms rhythm. It's time so begin summing up And that can be a difficult process.  What can happen is the idea behind the poem continues to the end without changing it's trajectory slightly, in order to sum up the meaning behind the refrain. What needs to happen in the last two verses, is similar to a conclusion in an essay, or the answer to an equation.  Luckily with poetry, there is no definitive answer, only the speculation that comes with one mans ideas, summed up in an old french form, hopefully brought into the modern world without losing the beauty of its origins.

So here are the five verses I have so far.  The final quatrain is yet to be written, but let me know if you think the flow of the poem works, and that I have stayed true to the discriptions of the villanelle mentioned above.

Who we are and what we feel
through each repeating day,
has no truth and is not real,

has no reward or grand reveal
to help us on our way.
Who we are and what we feel

and its defunt postiche appeal
which tames austere decay,
has no truth and is not real,

portends to nothing so ideal
to warrant us to pray.
Who we are and what we feel,

all that we hide, all we conceal,
to get us through the day,
Has no truth and is not real.
